BBC Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules New Album - Bring the Noise Preview

Judge Jules

NEW ALBUM – BRING THE NOISE
RELEASED ON MAELSTROM ON CD AND DIGITAL DOWNLOAD

You can count on one hand the DJs you can identify by their style as soon as you walk into a club – and Judge Jules is one of them. For two decades he has been at the top of his game, whether DJing, presenting or producing. Now he is set to release his second artist album, Bring the Noise – a collection that is unmistakably Jules - and packed with dancefloor destroying tracks.
Launching proceedings, Gotta Be Heard is an electro/trance hybrid with a funky walking bassline and smooth male vocal, while Guide You is a peak time trance monster featuring space age synths and a gospel-tinged vocal.

News hound and techno DJ/producer Jonty Skrufff teams up with Jules on Train Wreck, a rocking electro-tech beast stuffed with FX – a veritable wall of sound.
You Know What samples one of Jules’ favourite tracks of all time, Josh Wink’s ‘Higher State’, while Diversion boasts disco high hats, a squelchy bassline and piano breakdown for that big room sound.
Electronic Snare and Master Breaker debuted on Jules’ mix on the 2008 ‘Judgement Sundays’ compilation – both tracks guaranteed to smash a room to pieces.

Moving into more classic trance territory, Could Be Love is a euphoric ode to falling in lust on the dancefloor – perfect for that 4am sweaty embrace!

Judgement Theme was released as part of the Judgement Theme EP – it’s the sick groove with the xylophone breakdown, enormous rumbling bassline, disco bleeps and typical Jules tweaks, while Laid Bare, a huge tune in 08 is a great stomper, with that famous trumpet breakdown. Finally, The Skip 08 rounds off a polished collection with a fat slab of techno goodness.

Dice official opening canceled

Berlin's Dice club is set to close this weekend, due to a burst water pipe in the basement of the venue.

The club was originally scheduled to open its main floor this Saturday with performances by Octave One and Fabrice Lig, but both this event and the Tonkind Records showcase on Friday have now been cancelled. Dice hope to resume business as usual next weekend, but due to the nature of the problem, they haven't yet confirmed when the club will reopen. Revellers planning to attend any of the future nights at the club should check the official Dice website for further updates on the situation.

The songs—in their original context—can all be found on Jey's 2005 effort 4 Da Loverz, and many of the remixes were released on vinyl subsequently, but this will be the first time that many of these tracks have found their way to CD, making this a must-have for Jey fans.

V Festival announces its lineup

The V Festival has announced a second helping of bands added to its already solid lineup.

The four date tour which will commence in late March in Sydney will now feature French synth poppers M83, The Human League, The Killers, Snow Patrol and many more. And while that's a line-up that won't necessarily make the Johnny D fans in the house all that excited, the V Festival's mandate has always been to honor the big pop acts (Duffy, Razorlight) and music legends. To that latter end, the group's booking of ska legends Madness and The Human League should entice a slightly more discerning crowd to each of its four dates on the Australian continent. That The Human League is reportedly set to play Dare in its entirety? That's just icing on the cake.

Luke Hess finds a light in the dark

Dub techno fans take note: Detroit producer Luke Hess will release his debut full-length on Echocord later this year.

Hess began his career on Berettamusic and Omar-S's FXHE, but the producer spent a number of years before that behind the decks, cultivating a sound rooted in his love of detailed dub techno. (His latest release for Modelisme is aptly called "Dub for Love.") That obsession continues over the course of the nine tracks that make up Light in the Dark, his effort for Danish label Echocord. It will be his first solo outing on the label and is set to come out in May.

Tracklist
01. Meaning Matters
02. Son Beams
03. Evidence Everywhere
04. Transform
05. Self-Control
06. Reflections
07. The Truth Is
08. Reel Life
09. The Way

Echocord will release Luke Hess' Light in the Dark in May 2009.

Danny Howells returns to BED

Danny Howells has played many of the Made parties at BED in previous years, and 2009 will see him return to the intimate venue.

Howells' events became such a popular staple of the WMC that he was forced to migrate to larger venues such as The Pawn Shop and SET. Now that The Pawn Shop has now closed, Howells has decided to take his Dig Deeper party to his old haunt, where he will spin solo for the entire seven hour duration. With his new Dig Deeper label just kicking into gear, revellers can expect to hear plenty of Howells' new productions nestled alongside his deeply dug selections.
