Sylvain Chauveau writes The Black Book Of Capitalism

Composer Sylvain Chauveau has made his name with piano miniatures that utilize electronics to heighten their mood, but few have heard the record that started it all, Le Livre Noir Du Capitalisme. Type is setting out to change that next month, when they will release a remastered version of Chauveau's debut.

The record, which will take the English translation of the title (The Black Book Of Capitalism), apparently references "electronica, jazz, and even indie rock," but we're told that the piano—as you might expect—leads the way. As the whole thing has been remastered by Dubplates and Mastering and it's available on vinyl for the first time, we're guessing there is no better time to get acquainted with this earliest of works from the Frenchman.

James Ford is one of the UK's most in demand producers, having worked with Mystery Jets on their debut album Making Dens and the Arctic Monkeys' second album Favourite Worst Nightmare - itself a Mercury nominee last year.

Ford, one half of electronic house outfit Simian Mobile Disco, who had a massive hit with the Justice remixed We Are Your Friends, has also just started work on Klaxons' second album.

It could be Ford's year again as he has worked with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner on The Age of the Understatement, the debut album by The Last Shadow Puppets.

It has been nominated this year and is an early favouite to win.

But speaking before the shortlist was announced, Ford told Radio 1's Huw Stephens that another band deserves the honour.

Roger Sanchez in 3D

The jock who made "Release Yourself" a household word among dance devotees, Sanchez is one of the world's most well-known enthusiasts of the more commercial side of house music. That's why Renaissance asked him to take time away from his Release Yourself comp series to tackle three different mixes for the imprint. As always in the 3D series, these discs seek to showcase the various sides of the DJ/producer in question.

First up, is the club side, where Sanchez tries to put to disc what you might expect from one of his DJ sets with tracks included from the likes of Wally Lopez and Richard Grey. Next, you can take a listen to his studio work—a host of remixes and original productions litter the middle disc. And finally, we get to hear what Sanchez kicks back at home with, whether it be Massive Attack or Daft Punk.
