Madonna granted divorce in London

Pop star Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have been granted a divorce at the High Court in London.

The decree nisi was granted just a month after the couple, who have three children, declared their eight-year marriage was over.

A sworn statement released by the court showed the pop star petitioned for divorce on the grounds of Ritchie's unreasonable behaviour.

Neither Madonna, 50, nor her film-maker husband, 40, were in court on Friday.

In her sworn statement, Madonna said Ritchie's behaviour was continuing.

Madonna also said in the statement that the couple had not been living at the same address for the six months before the date of the petition. The document was signed in Beverly Hills.

Mathew Jonson's San Fran debut

Wagon Repair man Mathew Jonson will make his San Francisco debut later this month.

The producer, who has been focusing on his solo live show lately after touring with Cobblestone Jazz throughout much of the year, will make his debut solo bow in San Francisco at Roam Music's behest at a warehouse space that has yet to be announced.

The show, which will also feature San Francisco local Nikola Baytala as well as Los Angelenos Droog and Lee Foss will be at a secret location. For those looking to attend, you'll need to keep an eye on Roam Music's official site. With a nice underground space and the promise of Funktion One speakers, though, we're expecting wherever they choose to be the ideal venue for Jonson's analogue madness.

Justice fakes live set? Probably not

The internet has been buzzing with rumors that Justice didn't play live at their recent gig at Manchester's Warehouse Project, based on a photo that showed Gaspard Augé working a MIDI controller that mysteriously hadn't been plugged in.

While the levels of schadenfreude have reached epic proportions quite quickly, Justice has shot back with the claim that they indeed noticed soon after the picture was taken that the equipment had not been plugged in and quickly rectified the situation.

As you can see from the evidence below, clearly Augé thought he was doing something with the machine with a black control screen and no power attached at the beginning of their set, while the photos from Warehouse Project's official site shows the screen later on as blue and—presumably—turned back on.

F Comm hibernate for the winter

Laurent Garnier and Eric Morand have announced that their F Communications label will be on an indefinite hiatus for at least the near future.

In a statement to fans, Eric Morand has said that "the role of producer and artistic director of a label has become too narrow, too restrictive for me. I am more than 40 now, and my expectations are different from those I had at 20." The frequency of releases on the label has been much lower than in its '90s heyday, and various reasons have caused the pair to decide to wind things down.

From their statement, it seems clear that they haven't ruled out starting the label up again completely. "For now, we have no new releases planned for F Communications. We are taking care of the tree and its integrity," their statement reads. For now though, they're committed to keeping the current catalogue available, both in the shops and through download retailers.

Skream releases 30 minute track

Skream is set to release Gallasia, a 30 minute track for Nike's running project.

LCD Soundsystem's 45:33 was among the most celebrated editions in the series, which has also featured The Crystal Method and Simian Mobile Disco, but now it's the turn of Croydon-based Oliver Jones to produce his take on the training soundtrack concept. According to Nike's press release, Gallasia will build "from swirling synths and ravey '4x4' drums into reverbed symbols and trance-like melodies." It's unclear whether the track will see the light of day physically, but it will see a digital release on iTunes for the meantime.

Ben Klock to release One next year

Berghain resident Ben Klock has just finished his latest album, which is due out in February '09.
The Berghain resident DJ, who has previously released a double-pack on Ostgut Ton with fellow resident Marcel Dettmann, is famed for his powerful and charging sets of techno in the popular Berlin nightspot. His new record, entitled One as it's his first proper full-length, promises to be more versatile than his stripped back club 12-inches, and work just as easily at home or in the car as it would do in the club. It has just been through the mastering process, so no tracklisting or specific details have been unveiled yet. However, our curiosity urged us to get in touch with Ben and ask a few questions about the forthcoming LP, due out on Ostgut Ton in February of next year.
Your forthcoming album is called One. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
It's the result of my studio work in 2008. I started with the first ideas in January and collected a huge amount of rough layouts over the year. My priority was to use only those tracks for the album which I thought I would still be happy with looking back in five or ten years from now. In the end there are thirteen tracks on the CD album and nine tracks on the vinyl version. I put my focus more on the CD version this time which gave me a wider framework.
Has there been anything in particular that has inspired you during the making of the record?
I can't really say that. For sure I'm inspired by a lot of things, people i meet, travelling and so on. But I would say main influences come from the Hardwax surround and always the Berghain club as a center and main inspiration. I actually don't want to mention it, but to give you the whole picture I have to say that my mother died few days before I started working on the album so it was a special situation for me and working on the album was also a way to handle with it.
This is your first solo full-length. Did you find it easier, or more enjoyable to produce on your own rather than with Marcel?
Lots of people considered the Scenario EP that I did together with Marcel as an album. But we didn't mean to make an album. Actually it's just a double 12-inch. So yes, One is my first full-length. I can't really say it's easier or more enjoyable to work on my own, because when two people who are friends and who have very similar taste in music do something together the enthusiasm is doubled. You have a permanent dialogue and you can make decisions very fast. For every sound or beat you try out you get a prompt feedback from your partner. When you work alone you only have a dialogue within yourself. So sometimes you need more time to re-listen or rethink about things. So the process is more like going into conclave with yourself, especially when you work on a full length album. But this also makes it something very personal and precious.
Do you see it as a collection of club tracks, or as something more?
It's definitely more than a collection of club tracks. All tracks evolved in view of the album. I wouldn't say it's a conceptional album but to have the idea "album" in the back of my mind was already enough of a concept for me. My aim was that it works as a whole, that you can listen to it at home or in your car. It's a greater challenge to make an album than to release a 12" but it also gives you more freedom. You don't always have to think of the club situation and you can do things that wouldn't work as a 12". Well I'm not saying anything new here. But an album is really a more intimate and intensive process. Of course there are club tracks on the album but I think a certain vibe comes through all of the tracks like a leitmotiv.

Tadeo to make Contacto

Cyclical Tracks owner Tadeo will release his debut artist album, Contacto, on the NET28 label in January 2009.
The Madrid-based producer has had singles out previously on Apnea, CMYK and his own Cyclical Tracks, but he's now ready to release his first full-length on NET28। The self-confessed perfectionist has been heavily influenced by his love of cosmology, which is made clearly evident upon browsing the album's tracklisting. Expect a collection of techno that is deep and immersive, whilst also being peppered with more straightforward dancefloor moments.

Parlour resurrect Frak for new compilation

Known for their Balearic rock edits on their own imprint, Parlour are now set to do a mix for Information that consists only of rare and unreleased tracks from their long-time friends Frak.

Frak were present on the Swedish experimental synth scene throughout the late '80s and early '90s, and released a swathe of material। Most of this only saw the light of day on cassette, with the group bridging out to vinyl in the later stages of their career. Parlour have had a long-term connection to Börft, who released Frak's work originally, and are set to compile some of the rarer cassette-only material as a mix on Studio's Information label.

Parlour have spent hours going through all of the old Frak tapes, and have compiled the highlights into a continuous 57 minute mix that spans new beat, acid house and more minimal synth workouts। Spotters might be unhappy that no tracklisting will be contained, but with Frak anonymity was certainly part of the point and the compilation serves as a great introduction to their cassette-only material from 1988-1992.
